A note from Founder,
Aspen Bentley

My name is Aspen, and I am a former San Diego active duty member turned healer and advocate for veterans. Life in the Navy was a beautiful, tragic, provoking, loving, and gut-wrenching adventure. In my experience, too many military professionals face the challenge of sustaining high performance amid health challenges going unaddressed many resulting in fatality.

Unfortunately, when my classmates and I reached out to our chains of command for health support, we are primarily been met with expectations to do our jobs and refrain from expressing discomfort. This is what many citizens don’t realize about life in the military. There’s a prevailing belief that toughness should outweigh personal well-being, as if healing can wait whenever there’s work to be done. If the service member makes it past this initial hurdle and does make it to a healthcare professional, the wait times are more often then not a several month wait. In the meantime, the suffering continues resulting in catastrophic consequences.

This highlights the resilience of servicemembers who navigate demanding circumstances while grappling with the need for more comprehensive support systems. Through Healing Can’t Wait, we’re not only signaling to the world that these concerns should not be pushed aside, but we are providing tangible solutions for healing now.
